FAQs
How long does my hair need to be?
Hair typically needs to be about a 1/4 of an inch which is about the length of a grain of rice. Shorter than that may result in some hairs not being removed due to the wax not being able to get a good grip. If hair is particularly long this may need to be trimmed to avoid excess pulling and discomfort.
How painful is waxing?
This can vary from person to person due to pain thresholds, hormones and the area being waxed but I can assure you that all waxing is done quickly and in manageable sections to reduce any discomfort.
How long does waxing last?
Each area and each person can experience different growth cycles but typically you would leave 4-6 weeks between wax appointments. A lot less maintenance than daily shaving!
Will it feel stubbly when hairs start to grow?
Unlike shaving where we take the tops off the hairs bluntly creating coarse stubbly regrowth waxing removes hair from the root. When a new hair starts to grow it has a tapered tip meaning it feels softer. Regular waxing also encourages finer hair growth and less of it so over time you’ll notice you don’t have as much hair as when you started your waxing journey.
It’s my first ever wax and I’m nervous and embarrassed.
Firstly, don’t ever be embarrassed about hair on your body, we all have it, and I can assure you I’ve seen it all before, so if there’s an unusual little patch of hair somewhere that really gets you down, just let me know and we can accommodate that into your appointment.
Secondly, I understand a first wax can be a daunting experience, but I will do everything to make you feel as comfortable as possible, including explaining each stage to you and using my very own distraction techniques.
